Are you having trouble with your Apple AirPods, or is it just a temporary issue? If you’re experiencing any issues with your AirPods, there are a few things that you can do to help resolve the problem. One of the most common issues with Apple AirPods is that they go through the washing machine and become damaged. When this happens, you may be able to fix the issue yourself. Here’s what to do if you have an AirPod that goes through the wash.
AirPods are great, but what if they go through the washing machine? In this post we show you how to clean your AirPods and keep them working.

Are They Waterproof?
There is a myth floating around the internet that the AirPods are waterproof, but it’s not true. That’s incorrect. It probably originated from the fact that the new AirPods Pros are water and sweat-resistant. The Pro pods are perfect for people who want to wear contact lenses all day long without having to worry about having them dry out in the middle.
But the AirPods are waterproof, and neither are the AirPods charging cases. When you’re wearing these wireless earbuds, try to keep them away from water, dirt and humidity to protect your precious investment.
Sign Up for AppleCare+
It doesn’t cost much money, but it does cover some issues and repairs for free over the next two years. Most importantly, the coverage starts right after you buy the product. It’s easy to find the link to the AppleCare+ page on the Apple Store page. If you want the best value for your AirPods and you aren’t going to be using them for a long time, it’s a smart choice.
Jot Down the Serial
If you’re concerned about damage to your Apple Airpods after washing them, there is no way you can determine exactly how much harm is for your airpod. If it’s a charge case, then don’t worry about the serial number of your AirPods. Serial numbers are located on the bottom of the case. If you’ve washed your cases, the serial number may be unintelligible.
You need to take the steps necessary to have Apple replace your case and earbuds. To ensure safe and sound travel, you must note down the serial number of every apple device that you own. Another way of finding the serial number is to use your iPhone. In order to get started, go to Settings, then tap General, select About, and scroll down until you see the AirPods. Select your options, and you’ll be able to see their serial numbers.
They Got Wet
If you have recently put your AirPods in the washing machine, and they have been damaged, you need to contact Apple. This happens all the time. If you have done this, you may not be able to get the devices replaced. Sometimes the serial number of a device cannot be read, or the number may be covered up with scratches.
If you want to know your serial number and you don’t know it, go to Settings, then General, and scroll down until you see About. If you have a device that is newer than 2017, you can use your phone to show you the serial number. If you want to read the serial number of a device older than 2017, you can go to apple website. If you are unable to find the serial number, you will need to call Apple for help.
Try Silica Gel
Try silica gel for removing water and other liquids from your AirPods. Silica Gel will absorb all kinds of liquids.
Silica gel is a product made from silicon dioxide which is used to absorb liquids such as gasoline and water. It can also help you remove liquid from an Apple Watch, iPhone, or iPod. If you want to know how to use it, you can use this Silica Gel tutorial. Silica gel is very useful for you to keep your AirPods dry and clean.
What About AirPods Pro?
You should always invest in the best quality headphones for your needs. For outdoor activities, I recommend buying a pair of water-resistant models. The AirPods Pros are water and sweat resistant, so you can use them even if you’re exercising or getting a little wet. There is always resistance when learning anything new or adapting to new routines. The more you do something, the less you notice that you are doing it.
Don’t postpone drying your AirPods Pro. Get yourself the exact AirPods Apple sells so you don’t end up buying a second pair. Get Ziploc bags, Silica gel, the whole nine yards.
The AirPods Pro charging case is not waterproof. You should be aware of this fact, particularly if you’re planning on wearing them for extended periods. Transport your AirPods with care. And also, check your pants and other clothes before putting them in the washing machine.
Go to the Local Apple Store
If you followed all the instructions, and the AirPods are still not working, don’t purchase a new pair of AirPods Pro just yet. If you purchase a replacement, it will be much more convenient to do so online and have it shipped to you.
Many headphones do allow you to replace them individually. If one of the three main components of an AirPod fails, it may be worth replacing it instead of having all three fail. In other words, if the AirPods aren’t under warranty and they aren’t working well, you should probably buy a new set.
Don’t throw your AirPods out the window yet. You’re not completely out of luck if your AirPods are a lost cause.Even if you never purchased AppleCare+ it’s important that you contact Apple for replacement options.
If you don’t have a warranty on your iPod, Apple will provide a free battery replacement for a fee. If you have a 1st or 2nd generation set, ask a friend or family member for a case. In the earlier versions of the iPhone, the cases were interchangeable, and if only the case was damaged you may be able to get a new case at a lower cost.
Most people believe they need to follow the instructions. However, it isn’t uncommon for people to accidentally wash and dry their AirPods with no problems whatsoever.
Apple didn’t say that the tiny Bluetooth devices were not, in fact, waterproof. They just said that the official word is that they aren’t.
In fact, there’s no such thing as waterproof, since all electronics eventually fail. What is “waterproof,” however, is a system that protects its devices from the elements. Electronic devices that are rated waterproof are usually not impenetrable.
